Even eight hours are not enough for me

While I was browsing through Facebook, I saw this sentence and was glued to it: "Salah satu ciri untuk menjadi Penyayang: tidak mengantuk dan tidak tidur. Betapa ramai yang marah-marah dan tidak berkasih sayang kerana dirinya sudah letih, mengantuk atau tertidur."

Does it mean you have to sacrifice your sleeping time to take care of your loved ones? Or does it have an implied meaning?

Refer to Ayatul Kursi : "In the name of Allah the Most Merciful, and Compassionate Allah. There is no God but He, the Living, the Everlasting, Slumber seizes Him not, neither sleep"

An individual who is showered with Allah's love will have the strength to fight sleepiness. The closer you are to Allah, the more love you will get from him.

Al-Quran has stated that Allah has created the night to rest, and the rest is achieved by sleeping, but the amount of time spent is different for each individual. Seven to eight hours may not be enough if the life is only focused to oneself. Avid readers, hardworkers, and emotionally strong people like a loving mother only need a few hours to sleep. (Yeah I'm always amazed by the few hours my mum spent on sleeping). Rasulullah s.a.w. and sahabah always woke up late at night, for their love towards other people and Allah especially. In short, the more stable you are emotionally and mentally, the more loving you are, the less sleep you need.

And then there is this insurmountable insomnia problem. When people, especially Moslems, are indoctrinated by the joy of night life, cultivated by Western mind, it's hard for them to get up early in the morning to do their Fajr prayer. They couldn't make use of the day by starting early in the morning, and has shifted their activities to late night.

So let us get back to basic. Sleep and wake up early. May Allah bless us.
